Film Notations of European Solidarity Centre are biographical interviews, conducted with democratic opposition activists and creators of independent culture in socialist Poland. They are first-hand testimonies of people who organised illegal gatherings, demonstrations, art exhibitions, film screenings, literature circulation etc. Collection includes rare interviews that cannot be seen anywhere else.

The exhibition presented the time, social movements and lifestyle of young people in Slovenia in the 1980s. It documented a central facet of Ljubljana’s subculture and the alternative youth movement in the work of an amateur theatre group called the FV 112/15 Theatre and in the activities of three alternative clubs: Disco Študent/Disco FV, Šiška Youth Centre, and Kersnikova 4 (K4). Breda Škrjanec created the exhibition.

The Memory of Nations is an extensive online collection of the memories of witnesses, which is being developed throughout Europe by individuals, organizations, schools and institutions. It preserves and makes available the collections of memories of witnesses who have agreed that their testimony should serve to explore modern history and be publicly accessible. The collection includes testimonies of communism resistance, holocaust survival, artists of alternative culture and underground and many others.

Photographic collection of European Solidarity Centre documents the most important political events from the 1970s and 1980s in Northern Poland. They are a testimonial of suppression, fight and victory, but they also tell little histories: of alternative lifestyles and artistic sensibility. The still-growing archive resources contain over 63.000 items.

The documents that today make up the Sanda Budiș Collection were donated by the architect Sanda Budiș to the National Institute for the Memory of the Romanian Exile (INMER). After making a full inventory, the institute opened the collection for researchers and the general public in January 2008. The donation of this collection was possible due to the efforts of INMER, headed by Dinu Zamfirescu at that time, to identify, acquire and open such collections for research. The Sanda Budiș Collection is an important source of documentation for understanding and writing the history of the post-war Romanian exile community. Also, the documents in this collection illustrate the way Romanians who lived abroad during the communist regime in Romania involved themselves in rebuilding democracy in their native country after 1989.

The Multimedia Collection of Testimonies at the Study Centre for National Reconciliation in Ljubljana contains about 350 audio and video recordings with testimonies about World War II and its aftermath. The collection was established at the same time as the Study Centre in 2008, with the intention of researching the totalitarian systems that were present in Slovenian territory in the 20^th century – fascism, national socialism and communism. In addition to testimonies about the suffering in World War II, the collection also contains testimonies from the post-war socialist period, which describe the rigidity of the system and the violation of human rights in Yugoslavia.

In March 1983, an article named “New Wave with Old Content” was published in Tribuna, an official weekly newspaper of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia. The article was signed by the fake name Jan Krýzl. The text was stylized in an escalated rhetoric remanding of 1950s Stalinism and its “author” denouncing the than new and favourite, among the young generation  genres punk and new wave (“Primitive lyrics with primitive music, terrible clothes, provoking behaviour, vulgar gestures, rejection of everything normal, green-dyed hair…”). There were several concrete popular bands mentioned (inclucing the most well-known ones, for example, Pražský výběr) but the campaign, starting with this article, mostly affected half-official, amateur music bands. Their founding contracts (official auspices allowing both their legal and actual existence) were recalled, their concerts were not allowed, there were several interventions by the State Security. A 25^th anniversary exhibition commemorated all circumstances of the campaign against rock music; the campaign was, for Czechoslovakia in the 1980s, unprecedented both by its range and its radicality. There was some lesser known information about the official organisation of the campaign mentioned in the exhibition, the defensive methods of musicians were described (for example, changing the name of a band), the exhibition commemorated production of the band (for example several new wave lyrics ironizing the state), thematic documentaries were screened. The music band “Jasná páka” was playing on a vernissage of the exhibition; it was one of the most popular bands of the Prague club scene in the 1980s and one of the bands whose names were specifically stated in the article and later banned.
