Acquisition of the Matica hrvatska Collection by the Croatian State Archives, 1994
Matica hrvatska, which since its founding in 1842 preserved its archival materials, deposited it with the Croatian State Archives (HDA) in 1994 (Log of Deposits 59/1994). When acquiring unorganised records, the Archives agreed to arrange it, to compile a summary inventory, and to compile an analytical inventory for the most valuable documents - manuscripts. A massive amount of materials included 136 registers and 94 archival boxes that had no accompanying catalogue. The records were organised, and the inventory was published in 1998 (Bućin 1998). The collection, important for the study of the history of Matica hrvatska and the phenomenon of the Croatian Spring, has been available to the public since then.
