Kowalski, Zbigniew
Zbigniew S. Kowalski (1921-2013) was director of the archives of the Józef Piłsudski Institute in London from 1989 to 2010 and deputy head of the Institute from 1994 to his death in 2013. A World War II veteran, Kowalski took part in the French campaign of 1940, was briefly detained by the Franco regime in Spain, and fought in Normandy in 1944. After the war, he stayed in Great Britain where he studied law, economy and trade. He joined the Józef Piłsudski Institute in 1955. While serving as head of the Institute's archives, Kowalski processed and described holdings, including the Prometheus Collection.
