Marián Čunderlík (1926 - 1983) was a Slovak painter, illustrator, and graphic designer. In 1953 he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design. In 1958 his first exhibition in the Gallery of Cyprian Majernik in Bratislava was closed only a few hours after its openning because the regime considered it "inappropriate." Čunderlík was not discouraged, however, and from 1961 to 1965 he organized exhibitions of the artgroup Bratislavské konfrontácie [Bratislavan confrontations], which focussed especially on abstract art. In the second half of the 1960s Čunderlík became a member artgroup Klub konkrétistov [Concretist Club], presenting geometric and constructivist works. In the 1970s he was expelled from the Association of Slovak Artists and left Bratislava in protest and moved to small mountain village in Demanovska dolina, Tri studničky. There he died under tragic circumstances in 1983. The painting Grafická slepotlač II. is from the cycle Variácie a Satelity (1969 - 1970), which could be considered part of the concretist artist style. He created many artworks with this artgroup such work was partly responsible for his persecusion after 1968.
