Lithuanian Special Archive
The Lithuanian Special Archive was founded in 1995, based on the previous Working Group on Special Archive Files of the Lithuanian Archive Department. It consists of three sections: Soviet KGB documents, Communist Party documents, and documents of departments in the Ministry of the Interior. The archives was organized to manage a special collection of documents that consists mostly of the soviet Lithuanian KGB, Communist party and Interior ministry documents. These ones are recognized by Lithuanian government as material of special status and they are separated from other governmental archive documents. Lithuanian Special Archives is governmental institution that supervises, keeps, stores and initiates governmental law acts regarding this special group of documents.
