Neubrandenburg Literary Center
The Neubrandenburg Literary Center was founded in 1971 as the first of its kind in the GDR with the aim of promoting local authors and cultivating the regional literary legacy. It was initially a subordinate institution of the District Council of Neubrandenburg, which was taken over by the city of Neubrandenburg in 1990 before being handed over in 1993 to the care of a newly formed Board of Trustees. Since 1999, the literary center includes, among other institutions, the Brigitte-Reimann- House of Literature. It describes itself as a cultural heritage site and organizes a wide range of events functioning as an important hub in the literary network of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
