Oberlausitzer Friedenskreis
In 1982, the Upper Lusatian Peace Circle [Oberlausitzer Friedenszirkel] was founded in Großhennersdorf. It originated from an oppositional circle of friends and comprised 30-40 people. Nevertheless, despite its size, the group received nationwide attention. After its dissolution in 1984, its members were over-represented in other opposition activities in the region: from the Third World Solidarity Movement, human rights, environmental and peace groups, the green-ecological network, to regional groups of the reconstituted New Forum, (1989). Many of the materials produced during this period are kept in the Civic Movement Archive of the Großhennersdorf environmental library.
