Introduction of the rule on management of archive matterial in Lithuanian culture institutions
For a long time after the collapse of the Soviet Union, there was no system of document management in state cultural organisations in Lithuania. They could do what they liked with their documents. In 2004, the decision was made by the Lithuanian Archive Department to authorise the Lithuanian Archive of Literature and Art to supervise all matters in state cultural institutions regarding document management, transfer and storage. According to Adas Pliopa, the archivist at the Kaunas State Drama Theatre, this decision was the reason to make an inventory of all documents kept in various places in the theatre and privately. Because of this, the Manuscript Department at the theatre was searched, and some documents were transferred to the Lithuanian Archive of Literature and Art. As a consequence of this policy, the Manuscript Department today holds many drafts and manuscripts of theatre productions, and scholars can use them for their research. One of these manuscripts is the text of Mamutų medžioklė (The Mammoth Hunt, 1968), which has numerous corections made by Jurašas.
