The Freedom Festival is a multi-genre festival recalling and analysing the period of oppression in Slovakia. The program includes films, exhibitions, discussions, theatre performances or celebrations of personalities who participated in the fight against totalitarianism. The Nation’s Memory Institute is the organiser of the Freedom Festival. 2017 was the seventh year of the Festival, and featured events about both totalitarian regimes in 20th-century Slovakia, as well as a presentation of the Polish Nation’s Memory Institute and a discussion about students’ activism in the past and present.
