Event (general): Happy Child (2003), dir. Igor Mirković, Croatia. Film
Journalist and documentary director Igor Mirković made the documentary film Sretno dijete (Happy Child) in 2003. The documentary deals with the period from the late 1970s until 1984, that is, the era of the new wave. Mirković autobiographically describes the most significant events that defined this period and talks to people who were part of the new wave scene in Croatia and socialist Yugoslavia. In the documentary, Mirković talks to the stars of the new wave scene, such as Jura Stublić, Jasenko Houra and Darko Rundek. The film abounds with film footage created during the new wave period, showing the performances of many of the musical bands at the time and the atmosphere on the streets of Zagreb in front of popular youth gathering places.
Apart from film footage, the documentary shows Goran Pavelić Pipo's photographs. He gave Mirković access to a part of the photos from his rich collection. The shooting of the documentary coincided with the opening of the exhibition by Goran Pavelic Pipo “Zagreb, osamdesete ...: fotografije” in Zagreb in 2002. Mirković contacted Pavelić not only because of the size and variety of the collection, but also because the collection was relatively well ordered. The documentary very extensively covered by the media, and Mirković released a book under the same title in 2004, but with expanded content.
