'Scenes Painting' exhibition, salon of MSU Belgrade, 1971.
Mića Popović first showed his ‘Scenes Painting’ series in the salon of the Museum of Contemporary Art in 1971. It comprised 35 paintings: the Gvozden pictures, self-portraits and still lifes. A number of works (Hexagonal Space I-VI) showed scenes featuring long-time friends of the artist, at that time considered opponents of the incumbent regime. Despite diverse opinions, the exhibition of Mića Popović’s work was held without external intervention and political connotations in the salon of the Museum of Contemporary Art.
