The Evening Spectacle
The "Evening Spectacle" was the first performance by newly established Gardzienice Theatre, which took place in 1977 in Gardzienice. Its character influenced next plays by the group: it included entering the public sphere by the actors, engaging average habitants of the village in the spectacle and designed a new way of thinking about Polish culture - leaving aside the opposition - state dychotomy and reaching for the folk heritage of Polish villages. The "Evening Spectacle" is one of the examples of producing paralel, independent worlds by using culture and performance, not openly political agenda.
